TULSA, Oklahoma -- A website has ranked Tulsa as one of the five hottest cities in the nation this summer.

Thedailybeast.com compiled a list using data from the National Weather Service. Oklahoma City ranked number two, while Tulsa came in at number four.

The ranking is not surprising considering Tulsa has reached 100 degrees or above 24 days this summer.

The top five hottest cities in the country this summer are:

  1. Lubbock, Texas
  2. Oklahoma City
  3. Raleigh, NC
  4. Tulsa
  5. Austin, Texas

This summer, six people have died in Oklahoma from heat-related illnesses. Since Tulsa reached 107 Wednesday afternoon, we broke the record temperature of 106 set in 1936.

The record-breaking heat is raising the risk of heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke. If you must spend time outdoors, be sure to drink lots of water and monitor yourself for symptoms of heat-related illnesses.
