SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Drillers fans are used to high-scoring games by this point in the season, but this is getting a little ridiculous.
Tulsa won a 17-11 contest on Tuesday night against the Springfield Cardinals just one night after beating them 13-8.
The Drillers racked up 20 hits on Tuesday and gave up 13 to Springfield.
Tulsa's runs were reasonably well-spaced with the exception of a four-run inning and a six-run inning.
It led 4-0 heading into the fourth, but RBIs from Ben Paulsen and Bronson Sardinha quickly doubled that lead.
But the most impressive display of the night came in the top of the eighth, when Tim Wheeler, Thomas Field and Paulsen fired off homers back-to-back-to-back as part of a six-run inning.
Seven different Drillers racked up home runs in the game.
Field put up five hits in five at-bats, and Paulsen had four hits and four RBIs.
Casey Weathers got the win in 0.1 innings, giving up a single run.
The two teams will continue the exciting series Wednesday at 7:07 p.m. in Springfield.
