Ron Smith Resigns As Bartlesville Head Coach

After leading Bartlesville to back-to-back playoff appearances, Ron Smith resigned as the Bruins' head coach Monday to be an assistant coach at Victory Christian.

TULSA, Oklahoma -- After leading Bartlesville to back-to-back playoff appearances, Ron Smith resigned as the Bruins' head coach Monday to be an assistant coach at Victory Christian.

In two seasons at Bartlesville, Smith led the Bruins to a16-7 record, including a win in the 2009 playoffs – the school's first since 1988. Over a 14-year career as a head coach, Smith is 95-62, coaching at Owasso, Bartlesville and Deer Creek, which he led to a state championship in 2003.

Smith will coach the quarterbacks and defensive backs for Conquerors. Bartlesville is currently in the process of finding a new head coach.
