Quarterback Club Resides in C-USA!

The three Division-I QBs in the state are up for the Davey O'Brien award that gets handed out to the top passer in the nation. To win it, they'll have to do something ridiculous.

Landry Jones, Brandon Weeden and G.J. Kinne will not win the award. The way the politics of college sports works, I wouldn't be surprised if the scribes have chiseled Stanford QB Andrew Luck's name on the trophy already. (Same with the Heisman).

The thing that caught my eye about the O'Brien Watch List is the number of quarterbacks from Conference USA schools named to the list. Kinne is one of SIX passers on it, alongside Austin Davis of Southern Miss, East Carolina's Dominique Davis, Houston's Case Keenum, Kyle Pardron of SMU and UCF's Jeff Godfrey.

Wow.

That's tied for the most in the country with the Big 10. The Big 12 has four on the list. The Pac 12 has five.

I was big time shocked to see that C-USA was that highly regarded when it comes to QB play. I understand why all of them made it, too. Keenum is a beast. Davis puts up video game-like numbers. Godfrey has good receivers. Pardron has major upside. Davis and Kinne are big time talents.

But, wow. The MOST in the nation?

Hats off to the little engine that could. Don't tell me that Tulsa football doesn't stack up in this state. They've got skill all over the field and the nation is taking notice.
