CHEROKEE COUNTY, Oklahoma -- A Texas woman was hit by the boat she was riding in after she fell out, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The injury accident happened at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Burnt Cabin Cove on Lake Tenkiller.
Troopers say 49-year-old Sherry Lile of Texarkana, Texas, was riding on the gunwale in the bow of a 26-ft. 2012 Crownline vessel driven by Fort Gibson resident Arthur C. Kelly, 54.
Lile fell overboard and was struck by the Crownline, receiving internal injuries. The other seven passengers in the boat were not injured.
Lile was taken by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital where she was listed in stable condition.
Cause of the collision is listed as improper riding in vessel. The driver was in apparently normal condition at the time of the accident.
The woman's home town was initially listed as Taxakana by the OHP report, but that has been corrected to Texarkana.
