TULSA, Oklahoma -- A Tulsa Police officer was nearby when he overheard shots fired outside a north Tulsa sports bar at 3200 N. Peoria overnight Sunday. Sergeant Steve Stoltz said he thought at first the multiple gunshots might be fireworks, but called in for backup units.
Additional shots were fired as people outside Tanzi Sports Bar scattered. An employee of the bar was cooking and selling food at about 2:30 a.m. while a crowd of more than 100 people stood in the bar parking lot and spilled over to a nearby car wash parking lot.
Police found one man with a gunshot wound to his Adam's apple, Stoltz said. The man was taken to a local hospital, and another man arrived at a hospital on his own with gunshot wounds police believe he got outside the bar.
Stoltz said police are still investigating the shooting to learn which man is a victim or if both are suspects in the shootings. Due to the number and type of bullet casings found at the scene, police believe there was more than one shooter.
Several cars were also damaged by the gunfire.
