OKMULGEE COUNTY, Oklahoma -- A Mounds resident was pronounced dead at the scene of a fatality crash in Okmulgee County late Thursday night.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol 35-year-old Kyle Whitmire was northbound on U.S. Highway 75A, when his car went left of center and collided with a southbound SUV just south of 221st Street South.

After hitting the SUV, troopers say Whitmire's car left the roadway and struck a tree.

The crash pinned Whitmire for two hours, before he could be extricated. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The OHP says the driver of the SUV, 68-year-old Gladys Stanton of Cushing was flown by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital with leg and trunk injuries.
