Second Ozone Alert Day Of The Year For Tulsa Is Wednesday

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Wednesday, June 15, 2011 has been declared an Ozone Alert day for the Tulsa metropolitan area.

The order was issued Tuesday afternoon by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality.

THE DEQ says anyone with lung or heart disease should be aware that increased pollution may cause them to experience adverse health affects.

This is the second Ozone Alert day in 2011 for the Tulsa area.

DEQ is asking Tulsa area residents to do several things:

• Drivers should leave their vehicles at home on Wednesday and walk, bicycle or ride the bus to work.
• Postpone refueling your vehicle from Wednesday to Thursday.
• Do not use mowers or other gas powered lawn equipment.
