OHP: Wrong Way Driver Dies In Okmulgee County Crash

A 49-year-old Morris man driving the wrong way on U.S. Highway 75 is dead after his pickup truck collided with a SUV in Okmulgee County.

OKMULGEE COUNTY, Oklahoma -- A 49-year-old Morris man driving the wrong way on U.S. Highway 75 is dead after his pickup truck collided with a SUV in Okmulgee County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the crash shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of 75 and Celia-Berryhill Road.

The driver, Bret Walters crashed head on into a northbound SUV driven by a 17-year-old Beggs teenager, Julio Rebollar-Ortiz.

Walters was pinned in his pickup for over an hour. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teen was taken to a Tulsa hospital with head and leg injuries. He was treated and released.

Troopers say Walters was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
