Rick Wells, News On 6
TULSA, Oklahoma -- About a month ago, we told you a story about a dog named Atheana given up for adoption by her 15-year-old owner. The family could no longer afford to keep the dog.
Atheana found a foster home then someone suggested we might get Radar the News on 6 Weather Dog involved.
Atheana was dropped off at the animal shelter, because her family could no longer afford to keep her.
The teenager whose dog she was left a letter behind saying Atheana loved to play fetch, and she hoped whoever adopted her would love Atheana as much as she had.
That heartbreaking tale got us thinking about what more we could do, so Radar the Weather Dog and I went shopping.
Rick Wells: "Radar, we're getting some toys; we're getting a new collar; we're getting a leash."
Rick Wells: "I don't see anything we are looking for down here."
We went to the PetSmart in Tulsa Hills where there was a lot to distract a four legged shopper. Radar and I didn't agree on what to buy, so I followed his lead.
We picked up a leash, some toys and some treats. Radar assured me they were delicious.
We got to the checkout line. There was a nice lady in front of us. Patience is not a Radar virtue.
"Oh my goodness."
Guess he wanted to get this show on the road. We got checked out - signed the ticket - and it was on to the next thing.
In my original story, there were two dogs: Atheana and Megy May. Megy May was adopted and has a new home. Atheana is still waiting.
Both dogs will get the gifts that Radar helped pick out.
