Oh to be OSU golfer Peter Uihlein.
The reigning United States Amateur Champion plays in the Masters this week.
Uihlein has a chance to be the best golfer Oklahoma State has ever produced before his career is done. And that would be quite an accomplishment.
But even if he never makes a cut in a PGA tour event, Uihlein will always be able to tell people about when he played in the Masters.
I got to go to the Masters last year. Went for round two on Friday. Paid my own way and everything. We media types dont like to do that.
Ive been to Final Fours and World Series and they dont even compare to Augusta.
Uihleins OSU teammates are playing in an event hosted by Augusta State this weekend before the Masters. Theyll be on hand for his practice round Monday.
Uihlein will play in a practice round with former Cowboy golfers Bo Van Pelt, Hunter Mahan and Rickie Fowler.
Hell take part in the par 3 contest.
And then on Thursday theyll say, "Now on the first tee, the reigning United States Amateur champion, Peter Uihlein." Hopefully theyll pronounce his last name the right way, but I doubt hell even hear it.
I asked Uihlein on Thursday what he thinks will be going through his mind when he steps up to hit that first shot. He said, "Just dont swing and miss."
Not a chance brother. A week at Augusta can only be dead solid perfect.
See the rest of our one on one with Uihlein on the Statewide Sports Blitz Sunday night.
