THEY'RE BAAAAACK!
After six years of no postseason hockey, the Tulsa Oilers are back in the playoffs. They face the Mississippi RiverKings on Thursday and Friday.
I'll preface this blog by saying, no, I cannot grow a playoff beard. That would take way too long. I'll also say this, I'm not a HUGE hockey fan, but I appreciate the game. And if you haven't been keeping up with the Oilers, you've been missing out.
They are STORMING into the playoffs. They've gone 7 straight games without a loss. In round one, they're facing a team that they went 6-1-1against in the regular season.
The numbers surprised me. They won the CHL title in 1993 but haven't WON a playoff series since 1994. That's quite a drought.
I'm predicting better results this year. Ian Keserich is an outstanding goalie and they team has no problem scoring. They have put 242pucks in the net this year! That's an average of 3.66 per game! Only 3 teams score more. I'm pumped for this series. The Oilers are the #3 seed and have home ice. Maybe I'll try and grow that playoff beard after all.
