Originally Published: Feb 2, 2011 9:47 PM CDT<BR/>Its a day full of questions that will not be answered for three years.  National signing day.  All of the angst, all of the wondering and all of the stress comes to an end.  For now.<BR/>I wish they would do a study and go back over the last 25 years.  Take the top 50 recruits in the country according to the experts and see how they actually panned out.<BR/>I bet the experts wouldnt like what they find.  <BR/>And recruiting rankings are a crap shoot.  Why did USC and Alabama have the number one and two recruiting classes in the country according to rivals.com?  In part because the kids they signed were being recruited by USC and Alabama.    <BR/>Earlier this month we waited to see if OUs Travis Lewis and Ryan Broyles as well as OSUs Justin Blackmon and Brandon Weeden would declare themselves eligible for the NFL draft.<BR/>The recruting experts were about 50/50 on those 4 players when they came out of high school.  Lewis and Broyles were each rated 4-star recruits by rivals.com.  Blackmon was rated a 3-star recruit.  And Weeden was rated a 4-star recruit...in baseball.<BR/>College recruiting gurus arent the only ones who miss.  Lets not forget that Steelers linebacker James Harrison was undrafted and cut three times before becoming the NFLs defensive MVP.<BR/>Will Herschel Sims become the next Barry Sanders?  Will Marquis Anderson become the next Tommie Harris?<BR/>The answers to those questions comes on signing day 2017.
