Its sad to see Rosenblatt Stadium in its final days. OU fans remember the 1994 and 1995 College World Series and are making new memories in Omaha this year. OSU fans remeber an NCAA record 7 straight trips to the World Series from 1981-87.
Since 1950, Rosenblatt has hosted the College World Series but this will be last time. And its fitting it will take two new stadiums to replace the grand old lady.
TD Ameritrade Park, a new $128 million, 24-thousand seat downtown stadium , will become the new home of the World Series starting next year. But the Omaha Royals of the Pacific Coast League, who play their home games at Rosenblatt, are getting their own new 6-thousand seat stadium in Papillion, Nebraska, a suburb of Omaha.
Omaha has an agreement with the NCAA to host the World Series through 2035, but Rosenblatt will be demolished with the land on which it currently stands becoming a part of the Henry Doorly Zoo.
Out with the old, in with the two.
