Shock Impression

Not that I was expecting the opposite, but the Tulsa Shock players made quite an impression during media day. They were well-spoken, funny at times, and confident. They were also pretty honest about how they’re adjusting to Nolan Richardson’s full-court style, and hopeful about what could happen in the inaugural season in Tulsa.

As for the coach, at least one phrase has already burned into the player’s brains. "Fatigue will make cowards of us all," a Vince Lombardi quote that Richardson has used liberally during practice. Speaking of practice, more than one veteran said it’s been more physical than any other training camp she’d been a part of.

They’re putting in the work, and in less than two weeks we’ll begin to see whether they’ve truly bought into what Coach Richardson borrowed from Coach Lombardi.
