Oklahoma City Loses Series Finale to Tacoma in Extras

TACOMA, Washington -- After erasing a four-run deficit to force extras, Oklahoma City fell 9-8 in the 10th to the Tacoma Rainiers Friday.

Trailing 8-4 in the bottom of the seventh with two outs on the board and runners on first and second, Brian Dopirak singled to left field to bring Drew Locke home from second to close the gap to three runs. Oswald Navarro hit a ground ball single in the next at-bat to bring Robinson Cancel home and cut the deficit to 8-6.

In the bottom of the eighth, Anderson Hernandez reached on a fielding error in the first at-bat of the inning and Brandon Barnes drove him in with a triple to left field in the next at-bat. Locke followed with a single to left field to bring Barnes home and tie the game 8-8.

Oklahoma City had a chance to win in the ninth, but left the bases loaded to send the game to extra innings.

Johan Limonta walked to open the extra frame, advancing to third on a throwing error from Navarro. Dustin Ackley grounded into a force out in the next at-bat, bringing him home from third to take a 9-8 advantage.

Cancel reached scoring position with a one-out double in the tenth, but the Rainiers retired the next two batters to end the game.

Despite blowing a save, Denny Bautista (1-2) picked up his first win of the season, giving up just three hits and one earned run in his two innings pitched. Fernando Rodriguez (2-3) allowed one hit and one earned run to receive a loss in his 1.1 inning of service.

The RedHawks’ will continue their home stand at 7:05 p.m. Saturday with a matchup against Salt Lake City.
