STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- After erasing a six-run deficit thanks to the long ball, the Oklahoma State Cowboys fell to No. 8 TCU 8-7 thanks to a solo home run in the top of the 10th inning.

Trailing 7-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Jared Womack started off the comeback with a solo home run to left field. Two at-bats later with a runner on base, Gabe Weidnaar tripled down the right field line to bring Mark Ginther home and cut Cowboys’ (31-15) the deficit to four runs.

In the next inning with runners on first and third, Brett Johnson homered to left field to close the gap to one run as the game wound down.

Two innings later with one out on the board, Dane Phillips doubled to left center to put the tying run in scoring position. Andrew Heck came in to pinch run and advanced to third on a ground ball. In the same at-bat, Johnson sent a sacrifice fly to center field to bring Heck home and tie the game and force extras.

However, the Horned Frogs’ (33-14) bats went to work in the first extra inning.

With two outs on the board, Zac Jordan turned o the second pitch he saw and sent it over the left field wall to give TCU the one-run lead. Oklahoma State managed to put the tying run on third base with two outs on the board, but Hunter Bailey flied out to end the game.

Stefan Crichton (4-2) picked up the win for TCU, after giving up just two hits and no earned runs in two innings of service. Andrew Heaney (5-3) was credited with a loss for the outing, giving up four hits and just one earned run, while striking out four in his 4.1 innings of service.

Oklahoma State’s late-season non-conference swing continues with two games in Columbus, Ohio against Ohio State Wednesday and Thursday.
