TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Drillers relied on the long ball Tuesday to drop the Arkansas Travelers 4-2, making it three-consecutive wins for Tulsa.
Tulsa (14-9) knocked in three solo home runs in the first four innings of the game, leadoff dingers from Tim Wheeler and Wilin Rosario in the first and the fourth and a homer in the second at-bat of the second inning from Scott Beerer.
The Drillers’ only non-home run score came in the bottom of the sixth via a Beerer RBI double to bring Ben Paulsen home from third. Arkansas’ (9-11) only two runs came on a ground out in the sixth and a force out in the eighth, but couldn’t close the gap entirely.
Christian Fredrich (2-2) received a win for the outing, giving up one earned run on five hits and striking out four in his 5.2 innings of service. For the Travelers, Matt Shoemaker was credited with a loss, giving up four earned runs – three coming on home runs – in his 5.2 innings.
The four-game series will continue at 11:05 a.m. Thursday.
