Oklahoma State falls to Wichita State on the Road
The Cowgirls only managed five hits in the two-run loss to the Shockers Tuesday.

WICHITA, Kansas -- No. 18 Oklahoma State dropped a non-conference matchup Tuesday, falling to the Wichita State Shockers 4-2, managing just five hits in the loss.
Wichita State (14-28) struck first in the bottom of the third with two-out hitting from Sammie Shook. With a runner on second, Shook singled through the left side to bring Hayley Temple to take a 1-0 advantage.
The Cowgirls (34-11) responded in the top of the fourth inning. With Julie Ward on third, Tamara Brown singled up the middle to bring Ward home and tie the game.
However, the Shockers retook the lead in the next two innings.
Erin Carney lead off the bottom of the fourth with a double and advanced to third thanks to a sacrifice bunt by Brittney Osborn. In the next at-bat, Kiersten Dixon singled to third base to score Carney and take a 2-1 lead. With runners on second and third in the bottom of the fifth, Rachel Milnark reaches on a fielder’s choice and allowed Temple to score and extend the lead to two runs.
Carney singles to right field in the next at-bat to bring Milnark home and push the lead to 4-1.
Oklahoma State tried to close the gap in the top of the sixth, thanks to a Chelsea Garcia solo home run, but was unable to pull any closer.
Wichita State’s Sloan Anderson (5-6) received a win for the outing, giving up four hits and two earned runs in her 3.1 innings of service. Sarah Odom (2-1) received a loss for her 3.1 innings pitched, giving up four hits and two earned runs in the loss.
The Cowgirls will continue conference play at 6:30 p.m. Friday against the Baylor Bears, kicking off a two-game weekend series.
