BOSSIER CITY, La. – The Tulsa Oilers almost looked like a different team in the second game of their series on Saturday night.
After an overtime victory to take game one, Tulsa got blown out 6-1 against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, tying the series at one game apiece.
The Mudbugs used an explosive second period to cruise past the Oilers, scoring five goals in the second to add to their single first-period goal.
The only score Tulsa managed on the game was ironically a short-handed, unassisted goal from Marty Standish at the 14:59 mark in the second to briefly break up the Mudbugs’ scoring frenzy.
Although there was no scoring in the third, things got chippy as both teams – and benches – let their emotions fly.
The two teams combined for 105 penalty minutes and 26 infractions in the game.
The best-of-five series will now return to Tulsa for two games, the first facing off at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday at the BOK Center.
