OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City RedHawks gave up a two-run lead in the final two innings on Saturday in a 6-5 loss to the Albuquerque Isotopes.
Each team gave up 10 hits in the game, but Albuquerque got its hits at the most important time.
The RedHawks’ Jose Vallejo picked up an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth, and OKC added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth, including two RBIs from Drew Locke, to take a 4-1 lead.
After the Isotopes responded with two runs in the following inning, Locke picked up his third RBI of the day, scoring Koby Clemens to take a 5-3 lead into the eighth.
But Albuquerque showed up big to finish the game.
Russ Mitchell of the Isotopes homered to left field, scoring Jamie Hoffmann as well to tie the game at 5.
And Trent Oeltjen finished it off in style for the Isotopes in the ninth with another homer to give Albuquerque its 6-5 final margin.
Gustavo Chacin was credited with the loss for Oklahoma City as four RedHawk pitchers gave up at least one run each.
Roman Colon got the win for the Isotopes.
The RedHawks will have Sunday off before finishing up the series with Albuquerque on Monday at 7:05 p.m. in OKC.
