NORMAN, Oklahoma -- The heated Bedlam rivalry continued Wednesday, as the Oklahoma Sooners notched a 5-1 win over the Oklahoma State Cowgirls.

The victory broke the 69-69 series tie, improved OU’s series lead to 33-21 and continued the Sooners’ home-field Bedlam winning streak, first set on May 17, 1997.

Keilani Ricketts improved to 20-7 on the season after throwing her 21st-career complete game. She allowed just one run on three hits while striking out 11 batters.

The Sooners got off to a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Ricketts hit a two-run homer to right field. A second two-run homer by Brittany Williams gave Oklahoma the 4-0 lead.

A solo homer by Jessica Shults gave OU the 5-0 lead. The Cowgirls responded in the top of the sixth with their only run when Mariah Gearhart scored off a grounder by Chelsea Garcia.

Kat Espinosa finished with the loss after throwing 3.0 innings, allowing four hits while striking out one batter.

The two teams will meet again on April 27 in Stillwater at 7 p.m.
