Oral Roberts Smashes Centenary in Summit League Opener
The ORU baseball team opened Summit League play with a run-rule win over Centenary.

TULSA, Okla.— The Oral Roberts Golden Eaglestook an early lead and never looked back against Centenary rallying to a run-rule 11-1 victory Friday.
Senior Nick Baligodnotched his bestperformance this seasontallying four hits and four RBI.
ORU got the scoring started in the bottom of the second when Cam Schiller ripped a three-run single. Baligod added a two-run double and Brandon King capped the scoring with an RBI single to give ORU an early 8-0 lead.
In the third, Baligod knocked in his fourth run of the game with a double to make it 9-0.
Centenary scored its only run in the sixth on a wild pitch by Tyler Sparks.
Then in the bottom of the seventh, with a 9-1 Joey Winiecki led off with a single and Schiller followed with a walk. With the runners on base needed for the run-rule, Chris Elder placed a 3-2 pitch into the right field corner to score both base runners and end the game at 11-1.
Baligod finished 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, one run scored and one stolen base.
On the evening, ORU collected 13 hits in the victory which moves them to 12-11 overall and 1-0 in Summit League play.
Sparks (2-0) picked up the win pitching 3 innings in relief and allowed only one run and three hits.
ORU and Centenary return to the diamond Saturday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
