NORMAN, Okla. –The University of Oklahoma men’s basketball team takes the court for practice Tuesday, but fans and those wanting to take a look at the team and its new coach will have to wait.
Per NCAA rules, on-court workouts that are conducted out of season shall not be open to the general public.
NCAA rules specifically state that out-of-season team workouts, termed "skill-related instruction" sessions, "shall not be publicized and shall not be conducted in view of a general public audience."
Monday afternoon at his introduction ceremony, new head coach Lon Kruger spoke of his open door policy and that practices would also be open. Although he is correct in saying that practices will be open, they aren’t right now.
The open practice policy will begin on Oct. 14, but until then the Sooners and Coach Kruger will prepare for the season away from the public eye.
