TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Drillers will face off with the big boys Wednesday night at ONEOK Field. The Colorado Rockies will be in Tulsa to battle with their Double-A affiliate in a highly anticipated exhibition.

“The best professional athletes that are going to come and play in the city of Tulsa this year are the Colorado Rockies tomorrow,” Drillers General Manager Mike Melega said on Tuesday. “So, if you haven’t gotten your ticket you want to get it.”

Tickets are still available but the team expects close to a sellout. The Rockies and Bedlam games are always well attended. The stadium has close to 8,000 seats but can hold over 9,000 fans when you count up the seats in the grass behind the outfield walls.

The game will be a great opportunity for the young guys to get in some more work with the parent club.

“This type of exhibition is going to draw a crowd,” said Tulsa relief pitcher Casey Weathers. “It’s going to be a challenge.”

The Drillers return catcher Wilin Rosario this season. Ben Paulsen led all of the players in major league camp in RBIs and he will play first base for the Drillers this year. The team also welcomes Duane Espy as its new manager this year. Espy made his Triple-A debut against the Drillers back in 1973.

For tickets to Wednesday’s Drillers-Rockies contest, call the Tulsa Drillers’ ticket office at (918)744-5901.
