OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Sporting News released their annual “Spring 25” Monday, listing the top 25 returning college football players for the upcoming season, with two Sooners and one Cowboy making the cut.
Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones, receiver Ryan Broyles and Oklahoma State receiver Justin Blackmon were all named to the list for the upcoming season.
Blackmon grabbed the highest spot on the list, coming in at No. 11, making him the highest-ranked receiver on the list. The reigning Biletnikoff Award winner, finished the season with 111 receptions for 1,782 yards and 20 touchdowns – all three good enough to set school records.
One spot behind him was Jones, predicted by the article to contend for the upcoming season’s Heisman Trophy. In 2010, Jones passed for 4,718 yards and 38 touchdowns, while throwing just 12 interceptions and completing 65.6 percent of his passes.
As the Sooners’ all-around playmaker, Broyles came in at No. 18 on board after deciding to come back to Norman, Okla. for a fourth season. Broyles owns 10 school records – nine being set during the 2010 season.
Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore grabbed the top spot on the list, with Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin joining them as the only other Big 12 player on the list.
