STILLWATER, Okla. – OSU got off to a rough start in conference play, dropping the final two games of its series with the Kansas Jayhawks on Sunday.

The Cowboys dropped 7-2 and 5-4 decisions to KU in a doubleheader that was a result of a rain-postponed game on Saturday.

Oklahoma State gave up runs at critical times in the first contest as all seven of Kansas’ runs came with two outs on the board.

Sophomore pitcher Andrew Heaney got his first loss of the season (3-1), pitching 3.1 inning and allowing five runs on six hits.

In the second contest, OSU racked up 13 hits but left 12 runners on base in the game, including potential tying and go-ahead runs in the final inning.

The Jayhawks got on the board first in the fourth inning, driving in a pair of runs to take a 2-0 lead.

But OSU answered in the top of the fifth when Jared Womack doubled to bring in Zach Johnson and Dane Phillips and tie the game.

But Kansas stayed steady, notching one run in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to take the lead for good.

With the pair of losses, OSU falls to 14-5 overall and 1-2 in Big 12 play.

OSU will return to action in Stillwater on Tuesday when it hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 6:30 p.m.
