Cade Davis Named Big 12 Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas—Oklahoma guard Cade Davis was named the Big 12 Player of the Week for the final week of the conference’s regular season.

The honor is Davis’ first such award this season after the senior had a big week and helped the Sooners to a Bedlam win over rival Oklahoma State.

In both games last week against OSU and Texas Tech, Davis scored more than 20 points including 21 points and three rebounds at Tech and a game high 22 points and six rebounds against the Cowboys.

In those two games he shot 51.7 percent from the field along with 11 free throws and three assists.

The Elk City native scored in double digits in six straight games for OU, including 20 or more points in four contests.

OU's lone senior ranks No. 5 in school history with 176 3-point field goals and needs 26 points to become the 37th Sooner to reach 1,000 in a career.

Oklahoma is the No. 10 seed in this week's Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Championship in Kansas City, Mo., and will face No. 7 seed Baylor on Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT.

The conference Rookie of the Week is Texas freshman Tristan Thompson.
