Oklahoma State's Pitching Lifts to Win over Tulsa
The Cowgirls topped its in-state rival Wednesday to head into their home opener on a win.

TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma State softball team notched its 13th win Wednesday with a 2-0 win over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
Freshman pitcher Simone Freeman (5-3) was dominant for the Cowgirls (13-3), pitching a complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits and striking out seven of the 25 batters she faced. Jordan Kinard (1-4) received the loss for the outing, after allowing two earned runs on seven hits.
Oklahoma State got on the board in the third inning by playing small ball. Leadoff hitter Mariah Gearhart started the inning with a bunt single and stole second. Ari Morrison knocked a sacrifice bunt moved her to third and Alysia Hamilton singled up the middle to bring her home to take a 1-0 lead.
Hamilton added another RBI in the fifth by flying into a double play that allowed Kelsey Anchors to score from third and extend the advantage to two runs.
The Cowgirls will play its home opener against Illinois-Chicago Friday before taking on Auburn in the first game of The Preview featuring Bedlam.
