TULSA, Oklahoma – After rattling off eight straight wins, Oral Roberts is the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Summit League Tournament. They haven’t been to the NCAA Tournament since 2008, and now they’re just three wins away.
“You know, we really want to get back to the NCAA Tournament,” Golden Eagle head coach Scott Sutton said on Tuesday. “That’s why we recruited these guys. [We were] coming off of four straight Summit League championships, three straight trips to the NCAA’s . . . believe me, they hear about it all the time from me, and they hear about it from [former players] Caleb Green and Ken Tutt.”
“It really is time for another trophy [in the trophy case],” said freshman forward Steven Roundtree. “Every time I see it, I always say something about it.”
Junior forward and leading scorer Dominique Morrison also realizes the urgency.
“You always want to go to the NCAA Tournament. As a college player you always dream about that; we all dreamed about that and we want that to happen,” Morrison said.
The Summit League Tournament gets underway in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Saturday, March 5 when Oral Roberts faces North Dakota State.
