TOWSON, Maryland—Oklahoma guard Danielle Robinson was named to the Academic All-America Women’s Basketball Team Thursday for her work on the court and in the classroom.
The Sooner senior who is majoring in sociology maintains a 3.50 GPA and was named to the second team for her dedication to academics.
Wednesday, Robinson became the fifth all-time Sooner to surpass the 2,000-point mark with her 21-point performance against Colorado.
The San Jose, Calif. native leads OU with 18.7 points and 4.8 assists per game. Robinson is the seventh OU women’s basketball player to earn the Academic All-American distinction and she is also a Lowe’s Senior CLASS award finalist as well as a national player of the year candidate.
She is also in the running for other honors such as the Naismith Trophy, Wade Trophy, Wooden Award and Nancy Lieberman Award given to the nation's top point guard.
UConn’s Maya Moore was named the Academic All-American of the year and is joined by Army’s Erin Anthony, Columbia’s Kathleen Berry, Oregon’s Amanda Johnson and Liz Repella of West Virginia.
Robinson was joined on the second team by Angie Bjorklund of Tennessee, Northern Iowa’s Jacqui Kalin, Central Michigan’s Kaihla Szunko and Jasmine Thomas from Duke.

Robinson and the Sooners host No. 3 Baylor Sunday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. and the game will be televised by ESPN2.
