NORMAN, Oklahoma -- University of Oklahoma defensive tackle Stacy McGee was cited and released Sunday in Norman for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The traffic stop occurred near Creekside and East Lindsey at around 5:15 p.m. Sunday evening. The police officer who made the traffic stop noticed one joint of marijuana and a marijuana grinder inside the vehicle and cited McGee for the misdemeanor.
Since McGee is a citizen of Norman he was allowed to sign the citation and be released without arrest.
McGee, a junior at OU and native of Muskogee, started 10 of 13 games for the Sooners last season. He led all defensive tackles with eight tackles against Air Force and had a career-high two tackles for loss against Cincinnati.
Kenny Mossman, the Senior Associate Athletic Director with the University of Oklahoma says the matter is being handled internally.
