STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State had no trouble on its opening day, rolling the Bryant Bulldogs, 8-0.

It took the Cowboys a while to get going, for both teams remained scoreless through the first three innings.

In the bottom of the fourth, second baseman Davis Duren got hit by a pitch, then advanced to second and then third on wild pitches. First baseman Zach Johnson doubled to bring Duren home, then later scored off a single from Luis Uribe to give OSU a 2-0 lead after four.

The Cowboys carried that momentum over into the next inning, scoring five runs in the fifth.

Once again, the inning started with a pitching error to put Andrew Heck on base, who then stole second. He scored off yet another error, putting the Cowboys up 3-0.

As the bases filled, designated hitter Dane Phillips doubled to center field scoring Duren and Mark Ginther. Luis Uribe then picked up two more RBIs, bringing Philips and Zach Johnson home on a single to center field, giving Oklahoma State a commanding 7-0 lead.

Ginther added another run for good measure in the seventh on a single from Phillips.

Phillips and Uribe had three RBIs each for the Cowboys, while Duren, Ginther and Johnson racked up two runs each.

Brad Probst picked up the first win of the season on the mound for OSU, throwing six innings and giving up six hits. He struck out five and didn’t give up a run.

The Bryant pitching staff had a rough day, giving up three earned runs and five unearned. The entire pitching staff managed just two strikeouts the entire day for the Bulldogs.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Stillwater.
