TEMPE, Ariz. – No. 22 Oklahoma State capped off an impressive weekend with a 5-3 win against Utah on Sunday afternoon at the Kajikawa Classic.

Freshman Simone Freeman picked up her second win of the season in the circle for the Cowgirls, throwing five innings and giving up three hits and one run.

Utah got on the board first with a solo homer from Tia Palauni, but OSU responded in the bottom of the second as Ashley Boyd sent one over the left field fence, scoring Chelsea Garcia and giving the Cowgirls a 2-1 lead.

OSU added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth, as Garcia drove in Tamara Brown, then scored along with Sammy Jo Diffendaffer on a single from Ari Morrison.

Freshman Morgan Hawkins took over for Freeman on the mound, and sophomore Kat Espinosa took over at the end of the sixth and threw a hitless seventh inning to close it out, picking up her first save of the season.

The win topped off a 4-1 weekend at the tournament for Oklahoma State. The Cowgirls beat Cal Poly 10-2 and lost to Arizona State 1-0 on Friday.

They picked up a win against Cal State-Fullerton (12-1 in five innings) and edged out Northwestern 5-4 in 10 innings on Saturday.

OSU will travel to Houston next weekend to take part in the Hilton Houston Plaza Classic.
