TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa women’s basketball team hit a cold streak in the second half that led to a 61-48 loss to Central Florida Sunday.
Tulsa (5-11, 1-7) held the lead at the midway point of the second half, but could not finish things off. UCF (12-10, 5-4) finished the game on a 22-5 run, turning its deficit into a commanding lead and coasting for the final minutes.
Chelsie Wiley carried the Lady Knights, hitting four 3-pointers and scoring a game-high 18 points. Jelisa Caldwell scored 11, and Erika Jones added eight points and nine rebounds off the bench.
Tatum Beer had a hot hand for Tulsa, going 5-of-6 from the field and leading the Golden Hurricane with 14 points. However, Beer was the only TU player to shoot better than 50 percent from the field. The rest of the team combined to go 16-of-55, resulting in the Hurricane shooting just 34 percent.
The Hurricane has now lost four games in a row and seven of its last eight. TU will get a break from conference play in its next game, when it hosts Memphis at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
