FORT WAYNE, Indiana -- Oral Roberts’ Jaci Bigham used a late eight-point run in just over a minute to lead the Golden Eagles to 76-74 victory over the IPFW Mastodons.
The game marked the 10th-straight conference win for the team, as they improve to 14-7 overall and 10-0 in Summit League play.
A free throw by the sophomore sealed the Mastodons’s fate, completing the rally for the Golden Eagles. IPFW failed to pressure ORU in the first half, trailing 43-29 at half, but was able to muster up a 19-0 run after halftime. The unanswered score-fest included five 3-pointers by the Mastodons, giving them a two-point lead over the Golden Eagles.
Oral Roberts used the final 1:17 left in the game to come back to claim the victory. Jordan Pyle led all scorers with 25 points. Bigham finished with a double-double, including 18 points and 11 steals. The Mastodons were able to stifle the shooting abilities of Kevi Luper, who was held to just nine points. It marks just the second time in the sophomore’s career in which she’s been held to single-figures.
IPFW’s Anne Boese led the Mastodons with 24 points, while teammate Stephanie Rosado scored 10 and Jordan Zuppe finished with eight points and 11 assists.
The Golden Eagles next travel to Rochester, Mich. on Jan. 31 to face the Oakland Golden Grizzlies.
