LAWRENCE, Kan. – The No. 14 Oklahoma women’s basketball team stretched its winning streak to five games Sunday with a 75-57 victory over Kansas.
The teams exchanged the lead several times in the game’s first few minutes, but the Sooners (15-3, 5-0) went on a 16-6 run midway through the first half to take a commanding lead they never gave back.
Kansas (14-5, 1-5) started the second half with a run of its own and finished the game with 32 free-throw attempts to just three for OU, but the Jayhawks still did not manage to draw within 10 points for the entire second half.
The Sooners had a strong shooting day, hitting 51 percent of their shots overall and going 10-of-20 from behind the 3-point line. Aaryn Ellenberg led the way with a game-high 28 points, including six 3-pointers. Whitney Hand scored 21 points, and Danielle Robinson added 12.
The Jayhawks had significantly more trouble hitting their shots. They shot 37 percent overall and made only 19 of their 32 free-throw attempts. Carolyn Davis led the team with 16 points, and Angel Goodrich scored 13.
The Sooners remained undefeated in conference play and will return to Norman to face Texas A&M at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
