STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma State Cowgirls notched their first conference win Tuesday with a 58-49 win over the Colorado Buffaloes.
OSU (13-4, 1-3) started by scoring the game’s first seven points, but the Buffaloes (10-7, 1-3) kept the game close. The Cowgirls led by one point with four minutes left in the half, but finished on an 8-2 run to head into the locker room with a 29-22 advantage.
Colorado started the second half outscoring the Cowgirls 10-5, including back-to-back from behind the arc by Brittany Spears, to cut the gap to two points. A jumper by Julie Seabrook less than five minutes into the half tied the game 34-34, the only tie of the contest.
The Cowgirls answered with an 8-0 run – including four from Precious Robinson – to take a 42-34 lead eight minutes into the half. The OSU lead ballooned to 10 points, but a 10-1 Colorado run closed the deficit to one possession for the final time.
Spears led all scorers with 18 points, including 12 from three-point range, and nine rebounds, while Brittany Wilson scored 11 and dished out seven assists.
Vicky McIntyre set the pace for Oklahoma State with 14 points and eight rebounds and Toni Young contributed 10 points and six rebounds.
