Tulsa Remains Winless in Conference with Loss to SMU
The Golden Hurricane fell in a big hole in the second half and was unable to climb out.

TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Southern Methodist Lady Mustangs surged late in the first half and rode the momentum to a 75-56 win over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane Thursday.
The game was tied with less than five minutes left to play in the opening half, but Southern Methodist put together an 8-1 run to close the half with and head to the locker room with a 30-22 lead.
The Lady Mustangs continued to roll to open the second half, stringing together a 17-5 run in the half’s opening six minutes to take a commanding 47-27 advantage. The lead expanded to 27 points just five minutes later.
Tulsa would battle back, but never managed to come closer than 15 points in the second half.
Southern Methodist’s Samantha Manhesmith led all scorers with 18 points, while Hayley Day added 10 points and six rebounds.
Chanice Scott led Tulsa with 15 points and Loren McDaniel scored 11 and grabbed eight boards.
The Golden Hurricane will be back in action at 5 p.m. Sunday against Southern Mississippi and will try to notch its first conference win.
