ORU’s Luper Named Player of the Week

Oral Roberts guard Kevi Luper had a big week of play including a school record.

ELMHURST, Illinois-- Oral Roberts’ guard, and Adair native, Kevi Luper was named Summit League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performance during the week of Jan. 4-10.

The honor is Luper’s second Player of the Week award this season and the ninth of her career.

In the Golden Eagles last two wins over North Dakota State and South Dakota State, Luper scored 28 points and had four steals at SDSU and then went on to score 29 points on 12-of-20 shooting with six rebounds and three steals.

Last week alone she averaged 28.5 points, four rebounds and 3.5 steals per game.

On the season, Luper ranks sixth in the country with 23.4 points per game, and second in the country with 3.8 steals per game.

She also shot 50 percent (23-of-46) from the field and 78 percent (7-of-9) from the free throw line.

In ORU’s win over SDSU when Luper managed four steals, the sophomore reached the 200 steal mark, becoming just the sixth member in Golden Eagle history with 1,000 career points and 200 career steals.

ORU returns to the hardwood Saturday at 2:05 p.m. against UMKC inside the Mabee Center.
