NORMAN, Oklahoma – Three Oklahoma Sooners are expected to take part in the 2011 Senior Bowl: running back DeMarco Murray, defensive end Jeremy Beal and safety Quinton Carter.
The Senior Bowl is an annual event used as one final chance for college seniors to showcase their talents before the NFL Draft in April. This year’s game will be played at 3 p.m. on Jan. 29 at Ladd Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama. It will air on NFL Network.
Murray, Beal and Carter will give OU a total of 100 Senior Bowl attendees since the game began in 1950. The Sooners have sent multiple players to the game in each of the last three years.
Players from a total of 40 schools were invited to this year’s Senior Bowl, including the first invitation for Slippery Rock University. OU was one of eight schools to have three or more players invited, led by USC with five invitees.
Oklahoma State running back Kendall Hunter was the only Cowboy to be invited, but the team has not yet announced if he plans to attend. Neither of the two teams playing in the BCS National Championship – Auburn and Oregon – had any players invited.
