TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles were unable to overcome a first-half deficit Thursday to fall to the Oakland Golden Grizzlies 85-77.

The Golden Grizzlies (9-8) built their first-half lead by keeping ORU’s offense in check and only missing eight attempts from the floor and hitting eight of 10 from the charity stripe. Conversely the Golden Eagles only managed 14-of-30 from the floor and three-of-eight from behind the arc to head to the locker room trailing 44-36.

The second half played out evenly, both teams shooting more than 46 percent from the floor, but the difference came to be free throws. Oakland doubled Oral Roberts’ free throw conversions, hitting 16 while the Golden Eagles only managed eight.

All five Golden Grizzlies’ starters scored in double-digits with both Will Hudson and Keith Benson both recorded double-doubles. Hudson with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Benson scored 20 and grabbed 13 boards.

Dominique Morrison led all scorers with 32 points and five rebounds, while Steven Roundtree scored 21 and grabbed five rebounds.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action in a non-conference matchup against Acron at 6 p.m. in Acron, Ohio.
