NORMAN, Oklahoma – Oklahoma head basketball coach Jeff Capel announced Wednesday that freshman T.J. Taylor has left school for personal reasons.
Taylor was a three-time all-state player at Denison High School in Texas, but suffered an injury during the preseason and never played for the Sooners.
“This is something I felt I needed to do at this time of my life,” Taylor said. “I love Coach Capel and the staff at OU, and I wish everyone on the team the best of luck.”
Capel said Taylor also informed the staff that he plans to transfer to a junior college.
"T.J. is dealing with some things personal in nature and he informed me today that he is leaving our program," Capel said in a statement. "We wish circumstances were such that T.J. could remain with us, but we are certainly sensitive to his situation. We wish him the best."
