STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma State University announced Sunday that the Oklahoma State Cowboys will take on the Arizona Wildcats in the Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio.
After having its most successful regular season, Oklahoma State looked to be a favorite for its first BCS Bowl ever heading into Bedlam. However, the loss to the Oklahoma Sooners dropped the Cowboys to 10-2 for the season and behind the Sooners and Nebraska.
OSU has now reached a bowl game in five consecutive seasons under head coach Mike Gundy. This marks the 21st bowl appearance for Oklahoma State and the seventh in eight years for the Cowboys.
The Wildcats will come into the game after a one-point loss at the hands of rival Arizona State to close the regular season.
This will be the first matchup between the two schools since 1942. The Alamo Bowl will be played Dec. 29 in the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas
