STILLWATER, Oklahoma—Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden has been named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after a stunning performance in OSU’s 55-28 rout of Baylor.
During Saturday’s game Weeden set school records in passing yards with 435 yards as well as single-game completions with 34.
Weeden also set an OSU mark with this 229th completion of the season. Overall the 27-year-old quarterback was 34-of-42 for a total of 435 yards and three touchdowns in the win over the Baylor Bears.
On the season thus far Weeden has passed for 2,982 yards with 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions. His numbers rank him second in the nation in passing and he is also completing 67.2 percent of his passes.
Weeden’s honors this week mark the second time he has received the offensive player of the week award this season. He received the same honors Sept. 20 after OSU beat the University of Tulsa 65-28.
Also honored this week by the conference are Texas A&M players Michael Hodges as defensive player of the week and Coryell Judie who received the special teams player of the week award.
Oklahoma State has had six players receive player of the week honors this year, the most of any team in the Big 12.
This week Weeden was also nominated for the AT&T All-America Player of the Week. Fans have until 11:59 p.m. ET each Wednesday to participate in the voting. The winner is announced at halftime of the Thursday ESPN College Football Primetime.
Oklahoma State cracked the BCS top ten this week for the first time ever sitting at the 10 spot.
