OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma City Thunder announced the arena formerly known as the Ford Center will be called the Oklahoma City Arena for the immediate future.
The team announced in August its naming rights agreement had ended with the Oklahoma Ford Dealers. Officials with the team have been negotiating with potential new partners and until a deal is reached, the sports venue will go by the name Oklahoma City Arena.
Officials said the name change won't affect visitors' experiences.
"No matter the name of the arena, SMG is pleased to present world-class concerts and events in Oklahoma City," said Gary Desjardins, Regional General Manager of the SMG-managed Oklahoma City Arena. "We like to express our sincerest gratitude to the Oklahoma Ford Dealers for their years as partners to the arena."
