STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- In the last eight seasons, when Texas Tech and Oklahoma State has faced each other, the traveling team has suffered a loss.

This year, however, the Cowboys (5-0) are looking to break that longstanding statistic and leave Lubbock with a win.

The eight year span could come to an end, but only with a quick start by OSU’s offense.

“Obviously, we don’t want it to be a shootout for our defense’s sake,” Cowboys’ quarterback Brandon Weeden said. “We know we’ve got to score ?We’re going to their place, we need to score early and often.”

The Cowboys realize they can't head into the locker room at halftime with a deficit. Read more about the keys to their second-half adjustments.

The Cowboys are currently ranked second in the nation in passing offense, but the Red Raiders are a close fourth. Tech struggled earlier this season offensively, but was able to come out strong against Baylor, pulling off a 45-38 win over the Bears.

The Cowboys will not only be facing the eight-year record looming in their near future, they’ll also have to face the fact that their offense has never been able to score more than 24 points while in Lubbock. It’s a daunting task for the undefeated Cowboys, but as the season continues, head coach Mike Gundy realizes it’s only uphill from here.

“When you get into league play, you’re going to play good teams,” Gundy said.

The Cowboys and Red Raiders kick off at 2:30 p.m. and will be aired on Fox Sports Plus.
