TULSA, Oklahoma -- Scott and Sean Sutton calmly walked into the main gym at the Mabee Center and made the announcement many expected to hear: older brother Sean would be joining the ORU basketball program to work with his 'best friend growing up', Scott.
During the brief press conference, both Suttons smiled, answered questions and began the process of reinstituting basketball back into the life of a once broken man.
After his time at Oklahoma State ended, basketball had been taken away from him. Idle time ruled his days. Sean turned to prescription drugs. He got caught, was arrested, and spent three months in a drug rehabilitation program in hopes of treating his addiction.
Thursday’s announcement was the next step in completing the healing process.
Sutton will work as an advisor for the Golden Eagles’ coaching staff. Oral Roberts begins practice on October 22nd.
Chad McKee caught up with both brothers after the press conference to talk about what Sean’s addition means to the program and to the Sutton family.
