TULSA, Oklahoma – When looking at Tulsa’s offensive team statistics for any given game, the numbers are rarely mind-blowing.

But when breaking it down into individual stats, one thing that stands out is the sheer balance in the Golden Hurricane’s rushing and receiving corps.

It’s not unusual to see 10 or more Golden Hurricane players with a carry in a game. And seven TU players have double digit carries through just four games this season.

Tulsa coach Todd Graham said it helps that his players have never had a problem with selfishness or attitude.

“One of the things I'm most impressed about these guys is that they're not concerned about that,” he said. “In today's society, you don't see that on TV. You see guys complaining, saying that it's all about ‘me’ and ‘I.’

“ If you can get a team to focus and focus on not themselves and the team's success, that's the key to winning and winning championships.”

The Golden Hurricane’s balance on offense also extends to the passing game.

Twelve Tulsa receivers have caught a pass this season, and seven have double-digit receptions through the first four games.

Spreading the ball around has paid off for Tulsa, for it has won its past two contests by a combined 89-21.

Graham said the nature of his team’s offense makes it tougher for other teams to plan for the Golden Hurricane in the weeks leading up to the game.

“I think it's difficult to defend,” he said. “Our whole deal is about moving the football and scoring points. We got better this last week, there's no question.”
