NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Now's your chance to own a piece of game-used Sooner Sod.
Crews spent Monday morning digging up part of the Owen Field end zone. They're cutting the sod into little squares that will be sold as collectibles.
OU officials say they're selling the sod to celebrate the team's 800th win on September 4 and 70th consecutive sellout on Saturday.
Stadium Associates is the company making the collectibles. It's the same company that dug up and sold pieces of sod from the old Yankee's stadium in New York City.
The Sooner Sod will come with a display case and photo cards showing Oklahoma Memorial Stadium and highlights of OU football.
The collectible sod will be on sale beginning next month at The University of Oklahoma bookstore, The Apothem, Jason White store Divided, Big Red Shop and Balfour and online at www.StadiumAssociates.com.
